The ERA (Women’s
Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution originally written by Alice Paul )
was recommended in the Congress for the first time in 1923. It made it through both houses of Congress in 1972. It was then sent to the state legislatures for
ratification. The ERA did not receive the required number of ratifications before the final deadline mandated by Congress (June 30, 1982) and subsequently
it was never implemented.

ERA
ERA
The Time Was Yesterday!
Our Equal rights were never taken away
They never came into play
Though there was a fray
That history betrays
And justice delays
Do not haste
The Right has a pace
We cannot tolerate a tortoise and hare race
If they have their way
We'll be barefoot and pregnant
With only a feather duster to wave
How long will our talents and skills be held at bay?
When will we have our ample say,
With equal pay?
How much longer do we have to wait,
For our authentic projection to be portrayed?
No longer can we afford to be led astray
More than ever
The world needs our endowing cache
A wise man predicts (Dalai Lama)
Western women will save the day
Give way
For
Empowering-feminine sway
The past has already conveyed
The time was yesterday
Endorse
The ERA!
